PARADE AND COSTUME CONTEST
Contestants in the costume contest will parade around the lower 1/2 of the park (near Neponset Street) starting at 11am. Humans accompanying their pooches are welcomed to be costumed as well but it is not required. Best Costume awards will be decided by a panel of judges, but all attendees can vote for Top Dog (online voting or vote on paper at the info booth). All the winners will be announced at 1pm.

FAQ:
Is there an admission fee for the event?
- No! The event is free to attend and no tickets are needed.
What time is the parade?
- The parade starts at 11am. The event runs from 10am-2pm.
How will I know if the event is postponed till the rain date (the next day: October 26)?
- The Paul Revere Heritage Site will post about the weather delay on Facebook and Instagram, along with a big announcement at the top of this webpage.
Are dogs the only allowed pets?
- No, pets of any species are allowed, but they must be able to walk independently and kept on a leash at all times. They must also be non-reactive/non-aggressive to dogs and other animals.
I’m interested in being in the parade with my pooch/pet. Do I have to pre-register? Is there a fee to participate?
- You do not have to pre-register, but it is encouraged. Those who pre-register will get information about timing, parking, and event details ahead of the event and helps things move more quickly and smoothly on that day. It is appreciated, but not required and there will be a registration booth at the event. All participating people and pets must be registered/checked-in by 10:30am!
- There is a requested $15 donation for parade participants to help offset the costs of the event. It is not required, and if you are unable to make the donation you are still welcome to participate. The donation is to non-profit organizations (the Heritage Site and the Lions Club) and is therefore likely tax deductible. Donations may be made with cash, check, or credit card.
How does voting work?
- For the categories of “Best Costume” (in each size category) and “Best Human & Pet Costume” our panel of esteemed judges will vote on winners. For “Top Dog” (Best in Show) ALL ATTENDEES are invited to vote! A link to a voting form will be posted on this website and available after 11am (when the parade starts). There will also be a QR code/website link at the Paul Revere Heritage Site info booth that can be used to access the voting form. Voting will close at 12:15pm and the winners will be announced at 1pm.
I’m a participant in the parade with my pet. What should I know?
- You should arrive and check-in (if pre-registered) or register at the Registration Tent by 10:30am. At the tent you will let us know how you want to be introduced (ie: whether you only want the pet’s name announced or your name/kids names as well, confirm how names are pronounced, etc.) You will be given 2 name tags with your first name and your pet’s first name. One is for you to pin on your clothes and the other is to hand to the announcer when you reach her.
- Once you have checked in, go grab a photo at the photo booth near the registration tent.
- We will be gathering in front of the Yellow Barn at 10:45 for a group photo shot and instructions.
- The parade begins at 11 and each dog (with their person/people if desired) will proceed around the parade route, stopping briefly in front of the announcer where your names will be announced.
- Winners will be announced at 1pm and photos taken with them.
- Kids/families are welcome to be in the parade with their pets if they are in costume. If the humans aren’t in costume then we request that no more than 2 people walk with each animal.
I’m a crafter/artisan selling in the craft fair. What should I know?
- You are responsible for bringing your own tent, tables, chairs, signage, etc.Tents must be weighted appropriately (no stakes).
- You must be pre-registered and pre-paid in order to sell at this event.
- You will receive communications from the event organizer a few days before the event with instructions on timing, parking, etc.
I belong to an animal rescue group/animal support group. What should I know?
- You are responsible for bringing your own tent, tables, chairs, signage, etc.Tents must be weighted appropriately (no stakes).

PARKING:
FREE parking during the event at the Canton Center MBTA station, the new Heritage Lot (behind 60 Coppersmith Way), and in marked spaces on Revere Street, Neponset Street, and Revolution Way.
(note: Heritage Lot gates will be LOCKED after 3:30pm, cars must exit before then!)
